The clip with the bird is an Osprey, it lives on a buoy out on the river were we live, this was the first time I have gotten a shot of it! I Vampire What is free? Why does it hide? Why do I keep you -- In this box? Why do I ask? And your reply is... Only a whisper Oh, how I've suffered thee Why art thou free? And I appear not to be? Oh, how this prison And it's lavish decor Surrenders her secrets to me, I am epic Who is free? Where is that clement chant I sang as a child? Shinning through mine eyes Like a summers moon My immaculate mind An exception for hypocrisy Settling these dark intentions And, Waiting for dusk This ecstasy, growling on the floor Embrace it as I fall Armed now, with your velvet satire Small comfort I roam these streets late at night A thousand worlds come to mind I am a fragment, a drop in the sublime First century warrior My Freedom burns on the sultry shore Running, half crazed Through the cities maze A kingdom, divided outside How I'm free, Vibrant life, I caress your hair Delirious courage From deep, the depth I scold I delight in this rage Aloft and aware A divine lisp, away the ship sails Crying soft, before it's missed. © David Henry Haffner Sr. Pics taken from Google.com image files. May 16, 2008 - Hey Phil!! This poem I wrote in only a couple of days, sometimes it happens like that, and I have to roll with it and make notes or I'll forget my line of thought!

May 16, 2008 - Hey Don, oh yeah, Jim Morrison was a big influence as Alan Ginsberg was, I bought Jim Morrisons book "The Lords and the new Creatures," a complilation later used in an American Prayer, parts anyway. Neil Pert, well that goes without saying, his epics were masterpieces.

May 17, 2008 - Hi, Dave. Let's see if YouTube lets me post my comments this time, eh! Thanks for giving me permission to read your poems at our Coffee House. I usually read funny poems or stories, or tell jokes (a good counter-point to Gerald's guitar-playing), but sometimes I like to do serious stuff. This one fits the bill for sure! Heather

May 17, 2008 - Now this is interesting! I could not post my comment when I was on the "View all comments" page. But as long as I stay on the "landing" page I can post. Well, that's fine - I get to listen to the poem again while I type! : ) Heather

May 17, 2008 - I hope you don't mind me saying this Dave but your voice is very Jim Morrison-like. Very deep and hypnotic. Your poetry is a treat to listen to! Peace Bro!~Ted

May 18, 2008 - Cool poem Bard D., I think the bird is an Osprey though. A Bald Eagle has a white tail, dark chest and belly, with a yellow beak. An Osprey has a dark tail, white chest and belly, with a dark stripe running from its eye back, and a dark beak.

May 19, 2008 - You could very well be right Scott, it's lived out there ever since we have lived here, I've never been able to get a good shot until then, I just wish I could have telephotoed in closer, it does appear to have an all white head though.
DieselBodine Says:
May 19, 2008 - Hi Bard D., At 13 seconds, you can see its white chest/belly when it lifts its wing. At 20 seconds, you can see the black stripe going back from it's eye. A 25 seconds, you can see the black tail. Of course, it's the observations seem accurate, but still, I'm only yankin' your chain, bro! 8-)

May 19, 2008 - Hey dmio2!! Thanks for a cool comment!

May 20, 2008 - Damn Scott, I watched at those times and...I think yer right! Man, I was really hoping it was a Bald Eagle, I've only seen them in a museum, like the California Condor, I should have known better though, I think the natural habitat for A Bald Eagle is very high cliff type settings. I'll have to "Google" that! U are too cool my man!
